This Privacy Policy explains how shbd (available at https://shbd.bioinfo.guru, the "Service") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information. When you sign in, we receive basic profile details from your authentication provider: your name, email address, profile picture, and a provider-assigned account identifier.
• Documents and content. The Markdown documents you create or upload, including any embedded diagrams, code, and attachments.
• Usage data. Standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, timestamps, and request paths, used for security and troubleshooting.

2. File and Document Storage on Cloud Providers

Your documents and account records are stored on third-party cloud infrastructure:

• Database storage: Content is persisted in a managed cloud database (Turso / libSQL).
• Application hosting: The Service is hosted on Cloudflare's network.

We do not control these providers' infrastructure directly, but we only use reputable providers that apply industry-standard security practices. Your files remain associated with your account and are not made public unless you explicitly share them.

3. Authentication Providers

Sign-in is handled by third-party identity providers (Google and GitHub). When you choose social sign-in:

• You authenticate directly with the provider; we never see or store your password.
• We receive only the profile information you authorize the provider to share (name, email, avatar, unique ID).
• Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.

4. Third-Party Services and Processing

The Service relies on the following third parties, each processing limited data as needed to function:

• Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and security.
• Turso — cloud database for document and account storage.
• Google / GitHub OAuth — authentication and identity.
• Google Gemini API — if you use AI-assisted features, the text you submit may be sent to Google's API to generate a response. Do not submit sensitive material through AI features you do not wish to be processed externally.
• PDF export services — if you export documents to PDF, the document content may be processed by an external rendering service to produce the file.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use essential cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in (session cookies), protect against request forgery during sign-in (state cookies), and remember your interface preferences (e.g., light/dark theme). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

6. How We Use Information

• To provide, operate, and maintain the Service (storing and rendering your documents).
• To authenticate you and maintain your session.
• To provide features you request, such as AI completion and PDF export.
• To detect, prevent, and address abuse, security issues, and technical problems.

We do not sell your personal information or use your documents to train models.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Your documents are retained while your account is active. You can delete individual documents within the app at any time; deletion is permanent once confirmed. To delete your entire account and associated data, contact us using the details below and we will remove your records from our systems within a reasonable timeframe, subject to backup cycles and legal obligations.

8. Security

We apply reasonable technical measures, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and secret management on our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Service. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
